The National Fenestration Rating Council is an independent, non-profit organization that provides energy performance ratings for the window and door industry. 

All Energy Star compliant windows and doors must be rated, certified and labeled for both U-factor (heat loss) and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (heat gain from sunlight) by the National Fenestration Rating Council.
